Thanks for posting it. But in light of what we subsequently have learned, perhaps its is worth adding a note that we now know that the spike pictured in the article was NOT the spike at Promontory, but was a second spike that Hewes had made at the same time, and that it was quietly kept in the family until 2005. Just to avoid confusion. Might also be worth adding a similar note to your posted copy of Lampson's "The Golden Spike is Missing."
