Unknown Old Photo – SP Train Wreck

From: "William R. Davis" wrdavisjr56@gmail.com

I was going through some old papers and found this original photo. It looks like it might be Southern Pacific rail accident. Do you have images of this already? Or maybe it might be the only one. It looks like it might be a silver photo as it reflects in areas and is mounted to black cardboard. Nothing written on it as far as I can see. Love to know what you think. ...

To me it looks like somewhere on the Coast Line between King City and Paso Robles. It also appears to be pre automobiles as there are horses etc. in the background and no gas vehicles. Sorry I can't help more.

That is a Stanley Palmer photo of a wreck near Reno many years ago – probably around 1910. Negative is in the Nevada [State] Railroad Museum in Carson City.

Actually the background hills look more like Nevada desert, with hay farming in the valley flats by the river.

My father was an Engineer as was my grandfather for the UPRR. My fathers run was up Echo Canyon. If you would email me the photos you are trying to identify, perhaps I could help recognize where they were taken.

Thank you. My father, grandfather and uncles all worked for Union Pacific out of Ogden.

I'm looking for pictures of my father Engineer George Patrick Aaron - he drove the Bigboys. ...
