We have a Winchester 1887 with CPRR markings in our reference collection on both the barrel and the tang. We had earlier thought it belonged to the Canadian Pacific Railway (we are in Canada) but it was pointed out to us recently that the second R likely points to Central Pacific Rail Road ownership.
Do you have any records of CPRR owned Winchester 1887's and any details on the configuration they were contracted in if so?

ReplyDeleteSince there are markings of both "C-P.R" and "C P R R" it is far more likely, if this is railroad related, that it would be the Canadian Pacific, not the Central Pacific Railroad. Have not seen the CPR abbreviation used by the Central Pacific Railroad.
ReplyDeleteJust to disambiguate. The revolver on the bottom is clearly CPR marked and not what this question is about. The shotgun at the top though is marked with CPRR and was pointed out as potentially related to Central Pacific Railroad (and thank you everyone for looking)
