3 cent 1869 - 1944 completion transcontinential railroad stamp

From: "Eric Johnson"

How much do you think a 3 cent 1869 - 1944 completion transcontinential railroad united states of America postage stamp would be worth.

Many 20th century U.S. commemoratives can be purchased at face value or a little above. One of these 1944 transcontinental railroad 3¢ stamps is currently listed on eBay for 20¢.

Most stamp dealers have lots of common U.S. commemoratives sitting in a drawer, and sometimes will even sell them at a discount to face value. (Or at least they did about ten years ago, the last time we checked.)

Sending a letter covered with a variety of pretty commemorative stamps (adding up to the current first class postage rate) usually makes a big hit with the recipient who rarely will guess that this postal delight costs nothing extra!
