CPRR Summit Tour on Chinese Televsion

From: "Chris Graves" caliron@att.net

A little over a year ago I took a film crew from CCTV over the Summit. I am told that the film they were working on is now complete, and can be viewed. ...

This movie is a disaster, an unmitigated murder of the truth. To wit:
It says that 4,000 Chinese worked at Cape Horn for 4 months, working in handmade reed baskets.
It says that THOUSANDS of Chinese were killed by Nitro in the Tunnels
It says surveyors never were at Cape Horn, that a mere line on a map was their guide
1,200 bodies shipped to China on one ship.

Dreadful stuff. G J Chris Graves

To find the video, you must log the address into the search bar in the UPPER area of your screen. ... has to do with Chinese in America.

The film ... is marked with errors ... :

1. No Chinese EVER worked out of a basket at Cape Horn ...

2. Surveyors did the Cape Horn work 8 MONTHS prior to a Chinese workers arrival at that site. To say that no surveyors were there is absurd.

3. Cape Horn is only 800 feet long – to have 4,000 workers there, working side to side and up and down is absolutely stupid. ...

4. Nitroglycerine did NOT kill thousands of Chinese in the Tunnels. We KNOW from first hand experience that there were but two accidents using nitro, and they would have occured even if black powder were used in those instances.

5. Also incorrect that the snow sheds were invented by Chinese, and saved lots of time in the construction of the tunnels.
