Chinese Laborers at Work in a Cut

What is the location of the following picture? Photographer? Is it actually a CPRR construction photo?

"Transcontinental Railroad - Chinese Laborers at work in a cut"

I seem to remember that the best Chinese labor shots were of the Central Pacific of California and working north toward Portland. Been too long since I looked at the pix to say which this was for sure, but I'd say definitely not the Transcontinental.

Photo taken in 1889, shows work on the Monterey Extension RR (an SP construction subsidiary that extended the SP line from Monterey through Pacfic Grove). Not sure who the photographer is.

Further, I think the photo shows construction just past the Pacific Grove depot site, where the line passes through what later became a golf course.
