Tulare Roundhouse
My name is Mike Harvey, I am an Ex Humbug and current Noble Grand Recorder for Doctor Samuel Gregg George Chapter 1855 of E Clampus Vitus. On October 10th, 2009 around 9:00 am we are dedicating a monument to the Tulare Roundhouse. The event will take place at Halfys bar. This is not the exact location of the roundhouse but close enough. If anyone is interested in attending it is open to the public. If anyone has a picture of the roundhouse I would appreciate it if they could email it to me at dsgg1855@dslextreme.com I need a good picture for a handout at the event. Information will be posted in about a week at dsgg1855.com keep checking for details.

... The Tulare Public Library has a photo of the SP Tulare
roundhouse.
This photo is in the library's Mervin Fulton collection. Unfortunately,
the photo is [mislabeled] "Santa Fe Engine House."
The Tulare roundhouse was completed about September 1872 (see the September
21, 1872 Kern County Weekly Courier), was enlarged in 1875 when the Visalia
Division shops were moved from Lathrop to Tulare and was torn down in 1896.
Three stalls of the roundhouse were moved to Pacific Grove at that time.
There is at least one or two other views of the Tulare roundhouse out there
(for example, see pg. 24 of the Summer 2006 issue of SP Trainline, magazine
of the Southern Pacific Historical & Technical Society).
Have you checked with the Tulare Museum for photos?
