Travel from UK to NYC to Omaha, Nebraska in 1870
Question from an English writer:
I am planning a novel about an English family that travels from the UK to Nebraska in 1870, to take over a large farm. They are wealthy so could travel in style. Their destination is Omaha City. I have them arrive in New York with many packing cases filled with household goods; furniture, pictures, books etc. I'm told they go by railroad, maybe yours, but their possessions by river from St Louis. Any help you can give, or direct me to, would be much appreciated ...
