Does anyone know the modern geographical name for this?
I'm interested in Hart's photographs primarily for the views of Donner and the Truckee, but I was just very curious about this particular location. ...

Not sure if the next stereoview in Hart's numbering sequence is at the same location, but it is: #299. 176 miles from Sacramento. "Truckee River and R.R. at Lime Point. Sierra Nevada Mountains 35 miles distant".

(For comparison, Wadsworth, Nevada, farther East along the line, is 188-189 rail miles from Sacramento.)

I thought I had found a note that "Lime Point" was near Auburn. So confusing. Thanks for your help. We'll see if anyone knows.

You might check Lawrence Hersh's book, The Central Pacific Railroad Across Nevada 1868 & 1997. My guess is that you will find the answer there.
