Leases and transport records

From: "Shinn, Lindsay G"

I realize this is primarily about CPRR, but do you by chance have copies of leases made throughout the 1900s by Southern Pacific to others for property owned by Southern Pacific in Santa Barbara County? Do you have transport records of any sort that would show to whom shipments were delivered in Santa Barbara? If not, do you know where I may be able to obtain such documents?

The California State Railroad Museum was recently given a large number of Southern Pacific Land record books. These are presently uncataloged, so not available yet, but they should provide a lot of interesting information. I'm not sure whether they contain actual leases, but certainly there are records of leases that Southern Pacific and its predecessors entered into, as well as land sales.
