If you have not seen this article it describes the 1895 portable tie [wood] treatment plant at Chestnut, California.

William G. Curtis, an SP assistant general manager and John D. Isaacs patented this operation in 1895.

The USPTO only has a one page text version of the process.

John Dove Isaacs eventually became the SP's chief engineer. He was second assistant M/W engineer when the portable tie treatment plant was patented. Sacramento's I Street drawbridge was designed and built under his supervision. Finally, he designed the shutter trigger for the first movie camera.
