CPRR wood coach in Calistoga, California

From: "CHARLIE HOPKINS" TWINCOACH@AOL.COM

Was wondering if any one had information, history, etc. on a very old CPRR wood coach located in Calistoga, California at the old Southern Pacfic Company depot.

Well, I don't know much about the CP coach at Calistoga other then it's being used currently as a Wine Shop in the Depot complex. It's in great shape.

The depot though, isn't an Espee depot, it's an Old Napa Valley RR depot that was finished by the Cal P after they bought out the Napa Valley.

Sorry I can't help you on the car.

The car in the Calistoga depot is Central Pacific coach #12, built by the Wason Manufacturing Company of Springfield, Mass., in 1869. It is, in fact, the very car featured in the Wason builder's photo of their cars for the Central Pacific. It had a long history of service and modification, ending up as a service structure on the ground in the Southern Pacific yard in Stockton, before being rescued and moved to its present location.
