Rare decorative map of the route of the Central Pacific from the midwest to San Francisco, illustrated with 24 engraved images of the west, primarily of California and Nevada. Includes a smaller map entitled "Map of the Rail & State Route to Big Tree Groves and Yosemite" on the verso. The California Mail Bag was published by Frank Marriott from 1871 to 1878. The wood block engravings that surround this map seem to be copied from the A.A. Hart stereoview photographs.

We are looking for some actual sources for the maps you have on your website that have to do with Donner Summit. To begin with we’d like to find a source for a hi res version of the Montague maps on your Summit Contour Map page.

There are some broken links on that page and searching for the actual book, the Manual for Railroad Engineers does not turn up anything useful. ...
