Golden Spike in Washington, DC
Apparently the Golden last spike of the transcontinental railroad is on display at The Great American Hall of Wonders exhibit at the Smithsonian's Museum of American Art, on loan from Stanford University until January, 2012.

Not aware of any factual basis for the claim that "the Chinese laborers jeered" at the railroad executives.
Also calling the golden spike "a sacred object " might seem to those who are actually religious to be mocking and disrespectful of their beliefs. Historically significant, definitely, "sacred," no.
