Others may have more precise information, but I suspect that call boys and runners were probably in their early teens or possibly younger. Your question is a bit imprecise as there were a lot of different jobs on the
railroad. ...

Also, child labor laws did not exist, so lots of kids worked - even under 10 years old – depending on the job.
