Great great grandmother's 1878 trip west to Kelton, Utah

From: "Dean Munroe" munrovers@parrett.net

One of your maps is the 1871 Time Table Map. My great great grandmother would have come west on that line in 1878.

My questions:
How long would it have taken them to travel from OMAHA, NE to the end of the line at KELTON, UT? I realize that they would have started out on CP and later changes to UP. Where would that have been? Would there have been any lengthy stops along the way waiting for another train or would they have boarded in Omaha and gone the whole distance on that same train?

You can read the exact times for the Pacific Express on a timetable, published in 1878, for the trip west on the UP from Omaha, switching to the CP at Ogden for the last four hours of the trip to Kelton, Utah.
